YouthBuild Helping Young People Get Into Construction

Cornerstone Revitalization announces the launch of YouthBuild. YouthBuild is a National Organization which works to unleash the intelligence and positive energy of low-income youth to rebuild their communities and their lives.  There are more than 225 YouthBuild programs in the U.S. that have participated in building 17,000 units of affordable housing. However, YouthBuild is not just building houses but also building up individuals who need a boost of self-esteem or even someone to recognize that they matter.

Cornerstone's YouthBuild program is looking to help Birmingham youth get on a career path to construction. The program is designed to help youth between the ages of 16 - 24 who need to receive their high school diploma or GED, obtain to skills necessary to transition into the construction industry.  The Department of Labor awarded the foundation a grant to help achieve economic stimulus in the West End neighborhood and Birmingham community.

YouthBuild is still accepting applications for the program through January.
