Medicaid Extension To Age 26

Medicaid extension to age 26

To all youth in and aged out of care, we have great news! The Affordable Care Act has established eligibility for youth who have aged-out of the foster care system and had previously received Medicaid while in foster care, until they turn 26. Foster youth will remain eligible for full Medicaid benefits. This will be effective January 1, 2014!

Individuals who want to apply for Medicaid may apply several ways:

1.      You may apply on-line at http://insurealabama.org. Once on the page, you must click on the button that says Click here for Health Insurance and/or Tax credits that start on January 1, 2014.  After January 1, there will not be two separate button options and you will just log into the site to apply.

2.      You can also apply through http://www.healthcare.gov  or call-in center at 1-800-318-2596 ; TTY1-855-889-4325

3.      Lastly, you may complete a paper application. (This application is subject to change. If there are changes we well definitely keep you posted)
