Out of Foster Care, Into College

There are many young men and women that are in foster care that dream of going to college, the truth is that only about two-thirds never go to college and very few graduate.  Researchers from the University of Chicago have found that those not in colleges may be in jail; 34 percent who had left foster care at age 17 or 18 reported being arrested by age 19.

Here is an article that The New York Times has published where they go into the world and interview young adults that are Out of Foster Care and Into College.  If you have stories that you would like to share, email us at news@childrensiad.org
