Worth a Look: Independence Day
As Americans, we celebrate many freedoms. These freedoms were paid with a great price through perseverance, determination, and vision from many people.
The Independent Living program for foster youth in Alabama is a true reflection of our society. We want to honor our freedoms through the Independent Living (IL) program. The IL program was signed in 1999 to assist foster youth aging out of foster care as they transition to living on their own.
As foster youth age out, they are expected to be self-sufficient. This is nearly impossible for most. Now foster youth are provided a means of assistance when aging out through the IL program.
History has an extraordinary way of repeating itself.
Happy 4th of July!
