IL Youth Consultant

• Description:
Provides consultation on issues related to older youth in foster care and independent living (IL). Travel and flexible schedule required. This position is based in Birmingham, AL and is a temporary paid internship.

• Qualifications:
***Must be a recently emancipated foster youth.***
High school diploma or equivalent, post-secondary educational or vocational training preferred. Good computer and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and coordinate projects. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Experience on IL youth advisory councils. Ability to establish rapport with youth and adults, relating to youth in care and independent living. Ability to present in a group setting. Ability to relate to individuals in new settings. Must have reliable automobile, valid AL driver’s license and acceptable driving record, liability insurance of 100/300 limits, clearance with the Alabama Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect, and/or other clearances that may be legally mandated or authorized.
